Safe Passage
Size: 37 ½" x 22 ½"
For northern aboriginal people, the inukshuk represents a guide as well as a message of safety. The inukshuk marked a path of travel and an area clear of danger. The path to my inukshuk is sunlit by golden leaves inviting the viewer to come closer. The inukshuk is bright in contrast to the dark forest and the unknown behind it.

Wagon Wheel Size: 23" x 36"
The wagon wheel rests against the old shed at the back of Bell House. On a foggy day the background field and forest are unremarkable. The grass and weeds curl up around the broken wheel. I used fabrics other than cotton to create more texture on the old shed.

The Dories Size: 40" x 25 ½"
Adapted from a photo taken by my father Laurence Davidson. The dories rock gently back and forth in the water. I used thread play to enhance the reflections in the water and sparkling tulle to help the water shine. The dories are hand appliquéd and machine quilted.
