Memere’s Tea Party
This wall hanging was made for my mother-in-law who had two granddaughters living too far away for any playtime or tea parties. I had the girls dress up for a photo session wearing straw hats and lace gloves. The table is set with monogrammed napkins, half-eaten chocolate cookies and squares, cake and tea. I included the provincial flowers that represented the provinces each person resided. Prairie Crocus for Manitoba where Leah lived, Prairie Lily for Saskatchewan where Megan lived, and Violets for New Brunswick and Memere's home. I included button telephones for many long distance conversations, cat buttons for Leah, and ladybug buttons for Megan.

Grandpa’s Wish List
This wall hanging had the same intention as Memere’s Tea Party, but was made for my father-in-law and included the two grandsons. Paul and Andrew posed for the camera in front of a boat and with fishing gear. I placed the pictures at Grandpa’s camp – a great spot for fishing.
There are three views at the camp in New Brunswick, the camp itself, the pond, and the walk from the pond up the hill. This was a hard one to give away, its one of my favorites.

With These Hands
Dedicated to the Prairie Hearts Quilters Guild
Size: 20’ X 59” This wall hanging was made to celebrate quilters and quilting. I tried to represent the
process of quilting and the techniques quilters employ while they make their
masterpieces. I include several personal touches while creating it: the appliqued prairie
lily, the flying geese, and the farmer’s daughter block for Saskatchewan, and the sailboat,
and mayflowers for Nova Scotia where I make my home. I have included the process of
marking the quilt, Amish basket, fan blocks, using a rotary cutter and ruler, machine
quilting, cutting with scissors and freezer paper, hand quilting, Celtic bars, using the
seam ripper, crazy patch, Hawaiian appliqué, colourwash technique, and stitching the
binding. The quilt itself is machine quilted, hand quilted, and tied. Completed in 2001 in
Dartmouth, N.S.

Stephen and Norah’s Fortieth Anniversary
Size 48” X 36”
Another original design commissioned by siblings for their parent’s anniversary. The
wall hanging is heavily hand appliquéd and hand quilted. It is a composite of their 40
years marriage; landscapes represent places they have lived, provincial flowers represent
the provinces they have made home. A boat Stephen owned, a windmill for one of their
favourite places, a school where Norah taught, a double wedding ring quilt to symbolize
their wedding, and poinsettias for their church flowers on wedding day. The names of
their children are listed in the flowers representing the province where they were born,
and grandchildren are listed in the poinsettias. There is an Air Force insignia for
Stephen’s years in the military, and a newspaper with their wedding photo. Made in Dartmouth, N.S. in 2002.
